Medshield Movement at the 2025 Suncoast ECR Big Walk: Walking the Talk on Wellness

For the third consecutive year, Medshield is proud to be an Activation Partner at the Suncoast East Coast Radio (ECR) Big Walk, taking place on Sunday, 18 May 2025. This iconic Durban event brings thousands of walkers together to celebrate community, wellness, and movement along the city’s scenic promenade.

More than just a walk, the ECR Big Walk is a shared experience of fitness, fun, and purpose. As always, Medshield is there to walk alongside you, offering expert support, wellness experiences, and inspiration to make health a lasting priority.

Race Pack Collection: Check In With Your Health

From 15 to 17 May, Medshield will be at Suncoast for Race Pack Collection. This is your opportunity to get more than just your race number. Step into our space and take advantage of the Abby Health Station, our 180-second, touch-free health screening.

In just three minutes, you’ll receive personalised insights into your overall health using cutting-edge biometric technology. The Abby Health check assesses:

  • Vital signs include blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and body temperature.
  • Body composition, such as BMI, body fat percentage, hydration levels, and muscle mass.
  • Well-being indicators such as metabolic age, cardiovascular risk score, and stress levels.

It’s quick, simple, and absolutely free. Plus, you’ll leave with a printed report and the tools to start making smarter health decisions.

Push-Up for Health: Ready to Flex?

At the Medshield stand during Race Pack Collection, challenge yourself in our “Push-Up for Health” competition. How many push-ups can you complete in 60 seconds? The person with the highest score by the end of 17 May walks away with a R1,000 Sportsman’s Warehouse voucher.

It’s a fun, friendly way to test your strength, and we’ll be handing out spot prizes to participants who bring great energy and commitment, whether you do 10 push-ups or 100. Everyone’s welcome to join in!

Race Day: Recover with Queen Fitnass

On walk day, after your 5km or 10km stroll along the beachfront, don’t just stop, cool down with style. Medshield Movement Ambassador Mapule Ndhlovu, also known as Queen Fitnass, will lead a dynamic 20-minute cool-down session at Moses Mabhida Stadium’s People’s Park.

Her energising routine will help prevent post-walk stiffness and give your body the recovery it deserves. Plus, it’s a great way to finish strong and celebrate with your fellow walkers.

Win with Queen Fitnass: Share Your Cool-Down Moment

Want to win even more? Capture your cool-down experience on camera for a chance to win a R1,000 Takealot voucher. Here’s how to enter:

  1. Take a photo or video of yourself doing the cool-down session with Queen Fitnass.
  2. Post it on Instagram or X (Twitter).
  3. Tag both @queenfitnass and @medshieldsa.
  4. Use the hashtag #MedshieldBigWalk2025.

The most creative and enthusiastic entry will win big so bring your energy, your phone, and your best moves.
